The work of the District Attorney’s Office goes beyond a focus on cases.  It is critical that the office be an active participant in the community, both as an educator about criminal justice and crime prevention, and as a listener to community voices.  These are some of the areas on which I will focus the Office’s outreach efforts:

  • Gun Safety and Gun Death Prevention. As a prosecutor for twenty years, I know that it is essential to take active steps to prevent and combat violence – particularly crimes and suicides involving guns.  As District Attorney of Boulder County, I will employ a comprehensive plan for addressing gun safety and gun violence prevention, including working with relevant agencies and retailers to prevent domestic violence offenders from obtaining guns, providing gun safety education in the community, and bringing Boulder County into the Colorado Gun Intelligence Center’s programs.
“Boulder is our home. My wife Antonia and I have been married for fourteen years, and are the proud parents of ten-year-old twins. We love raising our family in this community.”
  • Consumer Protection.  Predatory scams and frauds can victimize anyone, but often are targeted at vulnerable groups such as the elderly, immigrants and young people.  The office will provide programs aimed at improving fraud-prevention education for these groups, and partner with local, state and federal agencies to thoroughly investigate and prosecute these cases.
  • Community Partnership.  My office will continue a robust Community Outreach Partnership Program that engages law enforcement and prosecutors with community members, organizations and community leaders.  My staff and I will regularly participate in community events and meetings.  We also will provide educational programs for adults and young people in areas such as fraud, internet safety, elder abuse, cyberbullying and sexting.
